The next meeting of the Disability Rights Consortium will take place on Wednesday August 22nd from 9:30-11:00 at Equip for Equality (20 North Michigan, Suite 300 in Chicago).  The focus of the meeting will be voting issues for people with disabilities.  

Our speakers will be: Melissa Picciola, Equip for Equality, who will discuss the impact of the Help America Vote Act 10 years after its passage; Ruth Brown, ACLU of Illinois, who will discuss voter suppression efforts nationally and in Illinois including voter identification laws, restrictions on early voting and restrictions of get out the vote efforts; and Cheryl Jansen, Equip for Equality, who will discuss current challenges people with disabilities face in exercising their right to vote

Attendees will have the opportunity to register to vote and attorneys who attend will receive 1.5 hours of Continuing Legal Education credit.   Attendees who need a reasonable accommodation to attend, should contact Barry Taylor at barryt@equipforequality.org.
