LAF (formerly The Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago), a not-for-profit corporation, is the principal provider in Chicago and suburban Cook County of free civil legal services to individuals and families unable to afford legal counsel. With more than 100 full-time attorneys and staff, LAF seeks to ensure that every low-income individual and family in Chicago and Cook County receives equal justice under the law. The Board of Directors at LAF includes client representatives and lawyers who are selected primarily by the Chicago Bar Association.
