The Self Help Legal Center can assist individuals with a legal problem by finding the self help packet, video, brochure, or publication that they need. Our self help publications are available for public use and copying at the Self Help Legal Center in the SIU Law Library during normal library hours. Individual in-person assistance from the students who work at the Center can be obtained by calling or e-mailing the Center and scheduling an appointment. Individuals are encouraged to download self help legal information and forms for free from our web site. The Center administers classes on divorce, child support, and visitation. The classes are an opportunity for individuals to receive help in completing forms and to ask questions about filing forms, court procedure, and hearings. The Center is open to all members of the public regardless of their age, gender, income level, or residency status.
