The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program, administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), is one of the most important federal housing programs available to assist low-income families, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

See the HUD website for a Fact Sheet on Section 8. Or see their homepage for rental help in Illinois.

For more information, look at the following guide on the housing choice voucher program: National Housing Law Project-The Housing Choice Voucher Program Section, is a publication to help you understand the Section 8 housing voucher program to assist people with disabilities.

Additional information may be available from your local Illinois Public Housing Agency (PHA), or U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) local field office.
