This is a training for attorneys who would like to work with the Legal Assistance Foundation by volunteering at the Bankruptcy Project's Pro-Se Help Desk at the Dirksen Federal Building in Chicago. Attorneys with at least one year of familiarity with consumer bankruptcy are preferred, though any attorneys with a good comfort level with bankruptcy are welcome. Those who complete the training in person and online are eligible for one hour of CLE Credit.

 

After watching the training and looking over the attached documents, please contact Benjamin Luehrs at bluehrs@lafchicago.org or 312-431-2106 in order to schedule a time to shadow a staff attorney at the Help Desk (9:30AM-12:30PM weekdays, Dirksen Federal Courthouse, 219 S. Dearborn, Room 625). Please include two to three dates this month or next month on which you can devote at least two hours in the morning to shadow, and we will let you know which of those works best. After shadowing, you can either begin to sign up for dates to staff the Help Desk or shadow again in order to become more comfortable with the process.
