Renter's Rights
Gives a general summary of laws affecting renters and their landlords in Illinois. It addresses issues relating to leases, security deposits, housing conditions, utilities, lease terminations and evictions, subsidized housing, mobile home parks and housing discrimination.
Homeowner’s Rights
This section is about protecting the equity seniors have in their homes, usually their most important asset. The section examines refinancing, predatory loans, reverse mortgages, mortgage foreclosure, tax sales, equitable indemnity programs, the homestead exemption and real estate tax deferral.
Property Tax Relief (Circuit Breaker Program)
Explains a government funded program which provides a direct cash grant of up to $700.00 to help people over 65 (and people who are totally disabled) to pay property taxes. Renters and nursing home residents also can receive a benefit from the program.
