Help is available for Cook County homeowners who are senior citizens with unpaid property taxes. The Cook County Assessor's Office is conducting its Tax Sale beginning Monday, September 13 through September 16. During the Tax Sale, the County's lien on your property for unpaid taxes may be sold. To protect your property and receive financial assistance that can help you pay your unpaid property taxes, seniors are encouraged to apply for important exemptions and to file a Certificate of Error by September 10th.

The Cook County Assessor's Office will help seniors complete the necessary paperwork. For more information, contact the Cook County Assessor's Office at (312) 443-7550 or visit the Assessor's website. You can also contact the Center for Disability and Elder Law at (312) 376-1880 for assistance.
