Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago (LAF) announces open registration for its upcoming Spanish pro se divorce clinic, which will take place in November at Midway Center in Chicago. This clinic is free of charge, and is intended only for simple divorces in which there are no contested issues. The parties should be in agreement about all issues relating to minor children and about division of property and debts. The purpose of the clinic is to enable pro se litigants to complete their own forms and petitions, and to appear in court without a lawyer. Additionally, clinic participants must have limited income and assets.
For more information and for pre-screening, potential registrants must call 312-431-2101 beforehand to listen to a message, and to leave their names and phone numbers. LAF will then contact them for a phone screening, and, where appropriate, complete and confirm registration. The registration period will close on Wednesday, November 2, 2011.
