Free Tax Preparation for Lower-Income Illinois Residents

The Center for Economic Progress has free tax sites in over 30 communities throughout Illinois. Each year, the Center helps more than 30,000 people file their taxes and get all the tax credits they’ve earned and refunds they’re owed. Its free tax sites are more than a place to get taxes done. At most sites, participants will be able to open a bank account and learn ways to save and better manage their money.

Who does the Center help?

The Center for Economic Progress provides free tax help to:

  • Families with income less than $45,000
  • Individuals with income less than $20,000

Where are the tax sites?

From January thru April 2009, the Center will have free tax sites in more than 30 Illinois communities. Go to the Center for Economic Progress website to find the tax site nearest to you by zip code, or see the attached flyers (in both Spanish and English) for locations in Chicago, Downstate Illinois and Northern Illinois.
